Moving to another country is rarely one decision.
It involves understanding eligibility, choosing a pathway, comparing visa options, preparing documents, finding schools or jobs, managing applications and making decisions about what happens after arrival.
The information exists, but it is scattered across government websites, university websites, travel platforms, consultants and countless search results.
Flit started from a much narrower idea: Travel Paddy, a product inspired by the founder's experience living in Canada and the difficulty of helping people navigate life and travel around a new country.
As the team researched the problem and challenged the original concept, we realized the larger opportunity wasn't simply helping people navigate a destination.
It was helping them navigate the journey to get there.
The product evolved into Flit Migrate: a platform designed to bring migration information, guidance and services into one experience.
The current direction reflects that evolution, with Flit helping users understand their best pathway, access visa support, get quotes, work with agents, track applications and explore education and relocation opportunities.
The live Flit website now positions the product around discovering the best migration route, personalized plans, visa processing and end-to-end support.

Migration is information-heavy, fragmented and difficult to navigate.
For People planning to migrate
They have to search across multiple websites to understand their options.
Eligibility requirements are often difficult to interpret.
Different visa pathways have different requirements.
Costs and timelines aren't always easy to understand.
The process can feel overwhelming before an application even begins.
People often don't know which pathway is actually right for them.
For the business
Flit needed to move beyond being another information resource.
The product had to create a guided experience that could connect users to assessments, services, agents and eventually the wider journey of relocating.

Defining The Product
Defining The Product
Defining The Product
The biggest product challenge wasn't designing screens.
It was deciding what Flit should actually become.
We explored the original Travel Paddy concept, researched the migration space, gathered user feedback and challenged assumptions as a team.
The result was a shift from: "How do we help people navigate a country?"
to: "How do we help people navigate the process of getting to the right country and pathway?"
That shift became the foundation of the product

As a team, we questioned whether destination navigation was the biggest problem worth solving.
Research and user conversations exposed a larger pain point: people struggled much earlier in the journey. They didn't know where to start.

Migration naturally creates a huge amount of information.
Our challenge was making the product comprehensive without making it feel complicated.
We broke complex journeys into smaller decisions and progressive steps rather than presenting everything at once.

The product contains a lot of information, but users shouldn't have to understand everything at once.
Instead of presenting an entire migration process on one screen, we structured the experience into smaller steps.
Understand → Assess → Choose → Prepare → Apply → Track

Flit has the potential to become a large ecosystem.
Jobs. Education. Hotels. Events. Transportation. Travel services.
Visa services.
But building everything at once would have diluted the core experience.
We continuously challenged feature ideas against the MVP and prioritized what directly supported the migration journey.

Flit taught me that complex products aren't necessarily difficult because they have many features.
They're difficult because users have to make many decisions.
My biggest contribution was learning to break those decisions down into understandable steps without losing important information.
It also strengthened my ability to challenge product ideas constructively. Sometimes good product design means arguing against a feature, identifying a constraint or asking whether something actually belongs in the MVP.
